Sports Massage is not, as the name might suggest, restricted to people taking part in strenuous sporting activities. Anybody sustaining muscle injuries can be treated with sports massage as an aid to recovery and pain relief. Similar to Swedish massage only using firm manipulation of the muscles, this therapy is used for improving muscle performance and to help damaged muscle tissue repair more quickly. For serious sports men and women using massage before and after activities will; warm the muscles ready for exertion; enable muscles to perform better; lessen the risk of injury; and help muscles recover after exertion. This also aids general fitness levels. This treatment can be given on a couch inside or outside on the playing field. The duration really depends upon the nature of injury or warm up/down.
